Football and Pizza: Cashing In On The Fans
English Premier League isn’t just about celebrating football, it’s also about the love for pizza. Pizza consumption saw an 11 percent increase on an EPL matchday than other days, with Brits having ordered 3.5 times more pizzas than average on the day Arsenal played Crystal Palace this year.
What’s even interesting to note is that pizza lovers and football fans have a lot in common. The audiences for both pizza and football are mostly men, falling in the age group of 18- 24 years. They are secondary level educated with a preference for energy drinks compared to beer or cola.
With the EPL being a popular event with a viewership of 4.7 billion, quick service restaurant brands, and marketers need to kick off campaigns to reach football fans as it’s a huge marketing opportunity.
To understand the impact and uplift of pizza consumption during football matches, we looked at our fast food vertical data during the last EPL season, and data partner: Visual DNA for audience data.
